Russian army makes no gains in Kupyansk sector for three weeks — Ukrainian officer
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander with the 429th Separate Achilles Drone Regiment, says that in the Kupyansk sector, where several brigades are operating, Russian forces haven't made any advances on the battlefield for the past three weeks
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The Achilles Regiment operates in two sectors simultaneously: one in the Kharkiv region, towards the Lypetska community and the settlement of Hlyboke. We are covering a substantial amount of work. And the second front is in the Kupyansk region. I will tell you that in the responsibility zone of several brigades, where the Achilles Regiment is conducting enemy detection and fire strikes, there have been no Russian gains on the battlefield in the last three weeks. As for the direction of Zahryzove, from the wedge that developed towards Kruhlyakivka, the Russian army has had no success in the last period," said Yuriy Fedorenko.
Yuriy Fedorenko also noted that the Russian advance towards Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi has been successfully stopped.
"The direction of Kolesnykivka is the same, despite Russia’s constant attempts. These are not isolated attacks. It's armor - didn't work with armor, tried on foot - didn't work on foot, high-mobility vehicles, then armor again, and so the Russians keep trying in this carousel. No success. Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi - remember, by November 1, Russian forces had sacrificed a significant amount of their resources to achieve this goal, to reach Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi - but failed. Then their deadlines were pushed to the New Year - again, they failed. As a result, in this sector, the Defense Forces are holding their positions very effectively and persistently. It can be said that the Russian advance has been halted," the soldier said.
The commander of the 429th Separate Achilles Unmanned Systems Regiment also reported that the situation remains difficult in the Dvorichna area, where heavy fighting continues.
"If you move upstream, the situation in the Dvorichna area is quite difficult. Russian troops, taking advantage of both the weather conditions and the terrain, are crossing on rafts and boats towards Dvorichna, trying to establish a foothold on the right-bank bridgehead. In response, the Defense Forces are taking measures to halt the Russian advance and prevent the establishment of regular crossings and the formation of a full-fledged bridgehead for further assault operations. Right now, intense and heavy fighting is ongoing," said Yuriy Fedorenko.
- Russian military command has ordered its soldiers to return to positions near a frontline settlement in the Kupyansk sector that was previously recaptured by Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Troops have reportedly been threatened with execution if they refuse to comply.
