Russia assures elimination of threat from Wagner PMC — British intelligence
The Russian Federation claims that by placing Wagner PMC under the authority of the Rosgvardiya, it has neutralized any potential threat posed by the militants to the country's security
This is according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
Anton Yelizarov, the new leader of Wagner PMC, recently released a video message following the deaths of Yevgeny Prigozhin and Dmitry Utkin in a plane crash in August 2023. In the message, Yelizarov provided detailed information about the new headquarters, likely located in Rostov-on-Don.
Yelizarov asserted that the Volunteer Corps of the Russian Guard would also be stationed at the new base, reinforcing intelligence claims of the Wagner soldiers being under the Russian Guard's command.
"The Russian state highly likely authorized the construction of Wagner's new base and highly likely perceives that by subordinating Wagner to Rosgvardiya, it has removed any potential threat Wagner might pose to Russia's regime security," stated the report.
- Wagner PMC units have been integrated into the Rosgvardiya command structure, suggesting increased control and influence by the Russian Federation over the group's militants.
