White House assesses threat of Russia using nuclear weapons after claims of deploying them to Belarus
The US has not yet observed Russia's intentions to use nuclear weapons, despite the statements of self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about them being deployed to Belarus
This was stated by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at a briefing.
The White House has seen reports of the agreement between Russia and Belarus and will continue to monitor the consequences of this step. However, they have not yet seen any signs of preparations to use the appropriate weapons.
"We have not seen any reason to adjust our own nuclear posture, you've heard us say that before, nor any indications Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons for Belarus," Jean-Pierre emphasized.
She added that such actions by Minsk and Moscow are "another example of making irresponsible and provocative choices."
