War for years, conflict for generations: former Polish President Kwasniewski assesses likelihood of truce between Ukraine and Russia
Even after the war is over, relations between Ukraine and Russia will be tense for decades to come. At the same time, the Ukrainian army will be the strongest in Europe
The 13th President of Poland (1995-2005) Aleksander Kwasniewski shared his opinions in an interview with Rzeczpospolita
"The conflict will last for a long time," Kwasniewski said.
When asked whether he was talking about several decades, he replied that "in the sense of a conflict between nations, yes."
"War is for years, conflict is for generations. The war will end with some kind of truce, an agreement, but the conflict between Russians and Ukrainians, the level of hatred that Putin has provoked, is such that it will take generations to reach some kind of peace," the former Polish president said.
According to him, Russia should come out of the war as weakened as possible, while Ukraine will become the strongest army in Europe. According to Kwasniewski, after the victory over Russia, Ukraine will be immediately accepted into NATO.
"For security reasons and because of what has happened, Ukraine will need us," the former Polish president said.
He also expressed his belief that the supply of weapons to Ukraine would be accelerated.
