Ukrainian president’s representative names options for liberating Crimea
On April 10, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Tamila Tasheva has named the options for Crimea’s liberation. When the Ukrainian Armed Forces reach the border with Crimea, Ukraine may offer Russia to withdraw its troops
She shared the information in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to her, Ukraine has been talking for a long time about the political and diplomatic way to liberate Crimea, and the Crimean Platform was created for this purpose. She also noted that after February 24, the situation changed drastically, especially after the victims seen in Bucha, Irpen, Mariupol, Izyum and other cities.
"We realize now that we cannot liberate Crimea through political and diplomatic means, but we need to liberate the territory. Therefore, we are using the way that will be most optimal for us at a certain period," she emphasized.
That is why, according to Tasheva, the liberation of Crimea by military means is being discussed.
"Do we want to minimize casualties? We definitely do, and President Zelenskyy has repeatedly said, ‘I would like us to liberate Crimea not by military means, because it will mean fewer casualties, destruction of civilian infrastructure, etc.’,” she said.
At the same time, Tasheva did not rule out that when the Ukrainian Armed Forces are on the border with Crimea, and have already reached, for example, Krasnoperekopsk, Ukraine could offer Russia the following option.
"Okay, let's talk about how you will leave Crimea. You will leave anyway, because we are already destroying your supply chains, we have you cornered. Any war ends with some kind of negotiation process. If Russians do not agree to this, we will continue to liberate them militarily," Tasheva explained.
