Washington-based political scientist Andrey Piontkovsky says that an interesting phenomenon has been taking place in US politics in recent days: Republican candidate Nikki Haley has surpassed DeSantis in some states in opinion polls

He said this on Espreso TV.

"The Republicans made the right decision in their strategic election campaign to attack Biden for not supporting Ukraine enough. I think they are now having trouble finding a strong candidate. Neither Trump nor DeSantis is suitable for this role," the political analyst emphasized.

Andrey Piontkovsky explained that it is now clear that a strong pro-Ukrainian candidate will win the election against Biden and then bring a majority of Republicans to Congress.

"A very interesting phenomenon has been happening in recent days, the rating of the Republican candidate and wonderful woman Nikki Haley is growing sharply. We remember that she was the US representative to the UN, and then she left the Trump administration after disagreeing with him on foreign policy issues. And now she has already beaten DeSantis, who turned out to be a non-candidate, in some states in public opinion polls. Well, as for Trump, I think that in the end he will not enter the Republican race. But the Republicans have a great chance to take the White House and Congress by adopting a clear Ukrainian position," Piontkovsky said.

  • On November 16, 2022, former US President Donald Trump announced that he would run for the White House in 2024.
  • On April 25, Biden announced that he would run for president in 2024.
  • On May 21, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election would lead to Ukraine's defeat in the war with Russia.
  • Former US Special Representative Volker also explained how the US presidential election will affect aid to Ukraine.
  • Yuriy Rashkin, a US politician and public figure, noted that Biden has a feeling that he is the best person to save the US from a second Trump presidential term.
