Son of 2000 Olympic participant Anna Zaporozhanova killed in war
Ukraine's Tennis Federation reports that the 21-year-old son of former tennis player and 2000 Olympian Anna Zaporozhanova has been killed defending Ukraine from Russia's aggression
The Tennis Federation of Ukraine reported this.
Zaporozhanova's son Ostap was killed in the Donetsk direction. The young man would have turned 22 in a month. It is reported that a year ago he went to the front as a volunteer.
“It is with regret and pain that we inform you that yesterday the son of a prominent Ukrainian tennis player, a well-known tennis coach, Anna Zaporozhanova, Ostap, was killed at the front in the Donetsk direction. The day before, it was exactly one year since the boy volunteered to defend Ukraine, and in a month he would have turned 22,” the statement says.
For reference. Anna Zaporozhanova is a Ukrainian tennis player and coach. She was a WTA doubles finalist, ITF tournament champion, played for the Ukrainian national team in the Fed Cup, and participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
