Kyiv Opera сonductor Kostiantyn Starovytskyi killed at front
A talented musician, conductor of the Kyiv Opera, Kostiantyn Starovytskyi, was killed on April 5 during Russian shelling near Kramatorsk, Donetsk region
The Kyiv Opera's press service reported that Starovytskyi was only 40 years old – before the outbreak of full-scale war, Starovytskyi was a conductor, director, and musician.
“Another irreparable loss for Ukrainian culture, and for our theater in particular. Kostiantyn Starovytskyi, our colleague who was an orchestra member at the Kyiv Opera, and later the conductor of Donizetti's Rita and one of the directors and authors of the Ukrainian translation of Rossini's The Bill of Marriage, was killed defending the country,” the statement reads.
From the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the musician served as a senior rifleman in the security company of the Brovary district territorial center. Then he continued to serve in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

Kostiantyn Starovytskyi was born on October 30, 1982 in Brovary. He graduated from the orchestral faculty of the National Music Academy of Ukraine. He staged Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera Rita at the Kyiv Opera House, which received four nominations for the Kyiv Pectoral 2016 theater award.
He is survived by his daughter Eva, his wife Snizhana and his mother.
