Pokrovsk frontline stabilized, but more concerning front looms — military analyst
Military analyst Vasyl Pekhnio says that amid Russia’s massive losses, its army’s capabilities are visibly diminishing
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation near Pokrovsk can be considered relatively stabilized. Soldiers from the area say the primary task of the army is to destroy the opposing army, while liberating or holding territory comes only after that.
Russian losses near Pokrovsk are enormous, and the enemy is being 'erased' with great force. Their diminishing capabilities are noticeable. Even the advances they have made, are making, or will make near Pokrovsk are significantly smaller than those a month ago when they were at their peak strength. Currently, the number of combat engagements, according to General Staff reports, is trending downward," Pekhno noted.
The military analyst believes that the Russians have now entered the culmination phase of their offensive.
"Soldiers say that over the past months, the Russians have been 'worn down,' which is now reflected on the front line - they are advancing less intensively, including near Pokrovsk," Pekhno explained.
The military analyst emphasized that the situation is more concerning south of Pokrovsk, particularly around Kurakhove.
"Russian control over Andriivka risks cutting off the logistics of Ukrainian military grouping still positioned near Kurakhove. There are certain concerns here, but despite the critical situation, we are not seeing large, rapid, or sharp Russian advances. The situation is on the edge between controlled and critical. Recently, there has been no significant Russian progress anywhere, except for growing concerns in the Kupyansk sector, where Russian forces are crossing to the other side of the Oskil River," Pekhno added.
- Over the past day, on February 6, 101 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 Russian attacks.
