Oleksandr Starukh, the head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

As a result of the blows, residential buildings suffered significant destruction.

Unfortunately, there are casualties.  Rescuers are pulling people out from under the rubble.

Anatoliy Kurtev, secretary of Zaporizhzhia City Council, clarified: "Today, Russians fired 7 rockets at ordinary high-rise buildings, in the apartments of which civilians were sleeping."

According to him, entire entrances were destroyed.

"Hospitals and information centers at schools are in full readiness for meeting people," Kurtev added.

Earlier, Starukh wrote in Telegram that as a result of Russian attacks, fires broke out in the city.

Local residents were urged to stay in shelters during the alarms.

"Russian actions are unpredictable. There is always a risk of repeated attacks. Follow the safety rules, stay in shelters. Do not approach the windows. Do not photograph the consequences of the attacks. There is no need to spread information about shelling. Take care of each other. Maximum caution is required," Starukh advised.

At 05:15 he reported that Russians attacked the regional center with rockets. Infrastructure objects became their targets.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of Ukrainian president, reacted to such Russian actions.

"Zaporizhzhia. Missile strikes on high-rise buildings. Russian terrorists know how to fight only with peaceful people. Crazy cowards. The Russian question must be solved once and forever. It can only be done by force. Weapons, sanctions, isolation. We continue to work. Total Russian defeat and prosecution. Only it," he wrote.
