Russian forces launch up to 20 assaults near Chasiv Yar daily - Ukraine’s 26th Brigade spokesman
Oleh Kalashnikov, the head of the 26th Artillery Brigade's press service, has stated that Russian forces are consistently trying to keep up intense infantry assaults near Chasiv Yar in Ukraine's Donetsk region
He said this on Espreso TV.
"On some days in the Chasiv Yar sector, Russian forces carry out up to 20 assaults on Ukrainian positions, focusing purely on infantry without using mechanized units. Other times, it’s closer to 5 assaults a day. This shows they don’t have unlimited manpower. Their units are losing combat effectiveness, forcing them to reorganize. Still, they try to keep the intensity of their infantry assaults relatively high to stop us from regrouping or preparing for tactical actions. There are times when their assaults come in relentless waves," Kalashnikov explained.
He also noted that Russian forces have reduced their use of guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian defenders.
"They’ve also reduced the use of guided aerial bombs in our sector compared to the spring and summer. The main reason is that we’ve been actively shooting down their aircraft in this area. The time it takes to prepare these weapons also affects how often they can use them. While they do have plenty of guided aerial bombs, the long preparation time means they’re deploying them in other areas where they see more value," he added.
- On September 2, Oleh Kalashnikov, a spokesman for the 26th Artillery Brigade named after Lieutenant General Roman Dashkevych, emphasized the strategic significance of defending Chasiv Yar in the context of operational and tactical planning on the Eastern Front.
