Russia threatens family separation for children studying in Ukrainian schools online in occupied Berdiansk
Deputy Chairman of the Berdiansk District Council Viktor Dudukalov spoke about the operational situation in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk
He spoke about this on the Espreso TV channel.
“Recently, there has been an increase in threats and cases of fines against children studying in a Ukrainian school. If a child is noticed studying in a Ukrainian school online, the Russians fine the parents. In fact, only the fine is officially recognized by the occupiers. The biggest threat is the deprivation of parental rights and taking the child out of the family because of studying at a Ukrainian school,” he said.
People choose Ukrainian education alongside Russian education, Dudukalov said.
“It is obvious that it is very difficult for a child not to have contact with a Russian school. But parents leave their children in a normal environment so that they get a good education. The Russian propaganda did not work, and the occupiers could not get everyone to sing the Russian anthem together. For the third school year in a row, they have not been able to pull all children out of Ukrainian schools. Therefore, these threats, fines and repressions continue. And people make this choice because they are Ukrainians,” he added.
The promised 10-12 thousand rubles, which were paid to socially vulnerable groups, will no longer be paid, says the deputy head of the district council.
“The occupiers continue to repress and tighten the screws, they are afraid of Ukrainians. Social benefits are being cut for people. Obviously, something has happened, and, apparently, they are cutting their budget. As for electricity, water and the start of the heating season, everything is clear: nothing has changed, everything is very bad. Half of the city has no water again, as of yesterday and today,” Dudukalov said.
