Ukrainian Defense Forces destroy armored Russian group in Kupyansk
In Kupyansk, the 14th Detached Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Roman the Great, destroyed a Russian armored group
This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the report, Russian forces deployed five armored vehicles for the attack: two tanks and three infantry fighting vehicles with landing troops. These were promptly detected by Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance.
Before reaching their landing point, the infantry fighting vehicles came under fire from Ukrainian defenders but managed to evade a direct hit, the General Staff said.
The report highlighted that at the dismount point, when the Russian infantry began exiting the vehicles, brigade pilots deployed drones with explosives. The Russian equipment was exposed and unprotected, leading to its destruction by the drones.
The first loss was an infantry fighting vehicle, followed by the destruction of a tank. Both vehicles were completely wiped out, beyond repair.
"The Russian personnel thrown into battle were left without equipment, unable to maneuver or launch an offensive. They tried to hide in a forest strip but were eliminated," the General Staff added.
- In the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces have eliminated 1,820 Russian soldiers at the front, as well as destroyed Russian equipment, including 15 tanks and 32 artillery systems.
