Asymmetric air defense: expert on night attack on Russian military airfields
Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi says that on April 5, Ukrainian drones attacked Russian airfields Morozovsk and Engels, and such attacks will become systematic
He said this on Espreso TV.
"I would consider it important to highlight the following, even if there are no clear records of the results at the moment, what exactly was damaged at Morozovsk and Engels airfields, because it is known that these two airfields were attacked by our drones today. Looking ahead, despite the fact that the enemy is now outnumbered, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actually constantly and systematically working to find asymmetric means to inflict as much damage as possible on Russia," the military expert said.
Kyrychevskyi said that he personally monitored open sources of information and observed a certain paradox: as talks grew that something should be done about the Russian tactical aircraft dropping guided bombs on Ukraine, interesting specific satellite images began to appear on social media.
For example, one image showed that one of the Russian airfields was very densely covered by electronic warfare stations, with everything glowing with a white spot. Other images showed that the Russians were stopping painting fake airplanes in some places and building light hangars in others.
"And then the question arose: what are all these pictures for? We can conclude that they were working on how to plan such attacks and make them systematic. Accordingly, we can be prepared for such attacks on Russian airfields to be systematic. The goal here is not so much to knock out a certain number of Russian aircraft that will be on the ground, but rather to provide an asymmetric means of air defense. They say that if we lack long-range air defense systems that can shoot down Russian aircraft during attacks, then we need to make them afraid to fly. Today we are seeing the first developments on this topic, which will continue to be developed. And then they will demonstrate the result that not only individual aircraft are out of service, but rather individual regiments of Russian aviation will hesitate to perform combat missions under commands from Moscow," commented Ivan Kyrychevskyi.
According to him, we should not expect any large-scale results from tonight's attack, but we should understand that a new exciting story awaits, perhaps even more interesting than the drone attack on Russian refineries.
Ukrainian drone attack on Russian military air bases
On the night of April 4-5, Ukrainian drones attacked the Morozovsk airfield in the Rostov region. At least 6 aircraft were destroyed there. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that 53 drones were allegedly destroyed.
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets commented on the night attack on three Russian military airfields. According to the military expert, if the Ukrainian Armed Forces have increased the number of UAVs in their arsenal, they should be sent not only to Russian refineries, but also to airfields used by the Russians to base aircraft.
