Ukraine demines over 252,000 hectares of land in 2024
In 2024, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense demining units cleared over 252,000 hectares of land from explosive ordnance, with most of the area being agricultural land

This was reported by the ministry's press service on January 1.
Military sappers cleared more than 232,000 hectares of farmland, 538.64 km of roads, and 163.26 km of power lines. They also carried out demining on:
- 444.94 km of railways
- 52.41 km of pipelines
- 178.49 hectares of residential plots
- 37 hectares of water areas
Throughout the year, they found and neutralized 137,821 dangerous items. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the total number of defused munitions has reached 416,877.
- As of October 2024, 128,000 square kilometers of land and 14,000 square kilometers of water in Ukraine remain contaminated with explosive remnants due to the Russian invasion.
