Russian army focuses on Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Vremivka, Kursk sectors - General Staff
Since the start of January 1, 101 combat clashes have been reported at the Russian-Ukrainian front. Russian forces are focusing their attacks on the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Vremivka, and Kursk sectors
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that border towns and villages continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling. Affected settlements include Tymonovychi, Yanzhulivka, Karpovychi, Zaliznyi Mist, Mykolaivka in the Chernihiv region, and Tymofiivka in the Sumy region.
Frontline situation
In the Kupyansk sector, Russian forces attempted to advance three times near Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched six attacks near Novoserhiivka, Tverdokhlibove, Kopanky, Makiivka, and Ivanivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled nine Russian attacks near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Predtechyne. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Toretsk sector, there were five Russian attempts to advance near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Fighting is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, there were 17 clashes today, with Ukrainian forces successfully repelling Russian attacks in areas like Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Solone, Kotlyne, Pishchane, Pokrovsk, Novooleksiivka, and Novovasylivka. Seven clashes are still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove sector, there were 11 clashes near Ukrainka, Petropavlivka, and Kurakhove, with three ongoing attacks.
In the Vremivka sector, Russian forces launched 12 attacks near Dachne, Kostiantynopil, Yantarne, Novosilka, Rozlyv, and Novyi Komar. Five of these attacks are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv sector, there was one firefight near Novoandriivka, where the Russian army was unsuccessful.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled one Russian attack.
In the Kharkiv, Huliaipole, and Siversk sectors, there has been no significant Russian activity today.
