Russia says it has given 1.5 million Russian passports in occupied Ukraine
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that almost 1.5 million people from the occupied territories of Ukraine have received Russian passports since October 2022

"Since October last year, almost 1.5 million residents of the new subjects of the Russian Federation have received Russian passports," the statement said.
These are the parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia.
Opening the strategic session on the development of the "new territories", the Russian prime minister said it was important for his country that all residents of the temporarily occupied regions of our country feel the real changes taking place.
Mishustin said that the work on the restoration of settlements in the occupied territories is allegedly moving at a good pace and promised support for various sectors of the economy in the occupied Ukrainian territories, paying particular attention to the good prospects in agriculture.

In Melitopol, the Russian occupiers are coming up with new ways to force locals to obtain a Russian passport. Among other things, they lure people with social benefits for children, which can only be obtained with a Russian document.
The occupation administration of the Luhansk region called on local organizations and businesses to provide information on measures to force the population to obtain passports.
On 28 May, the General Staff wrote that on the left bank of the Kherson region, those who did not take a Russian passport were threatened with car confiscation.
In Mariupol, there is no access to regular medicines, and Russians are forcing people to search for them throughout the occupied territory.
On 30 May, it became known that in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region, Russians are resorting to new methods to force locals to obtain passports. Now, medical care can only be obtained with a Russian passport.
