Our goal is to secure guarantees and end war this year — Zelenskyy

He said this in an interview with the Italian TV channel RaiNews24.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, "We want peace more than anyone else. And this is understandable, because we are losing the most, especially people." He emphasized, however, that before agreeing to any peace, it is crucial to have "serious security guarantees" for both Ukraine and Europe. “This is the defense of Ukraine and security guarantees — that Russia will not return with aggression again, as it did after the occupation of Crimea in 2014 and then in 2015.”

Zelenskyy emphasized that Russian leader Vladimir Putin “wants and has always wanted to destroy Ukraine completely,” which is his dream. Instead, Kyiv's dream in 2025 is to receive security guarantees and end the war.

“This is a fact. This is his (Putin's - ed.) dream. And we should not believe in other fairy tales. Therefore, Ukraine must be granted security guarantees that will not allow him to come back with war. This is our dream — to receive guarantees this year and end the war this year. We will do everything for this,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
