Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirms that Russia may launch an offensive in the coming months, in particular in the spring.

Experts have noted that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian troops are preparing for an offensive in the spring or early summer of 2023, which partially confirms the ISW's assessment that Russian troops could launch a decisive offensive in the coming months.
Based on the collected data, the Institute's experts noted that Russia continues to deepen its military and economic relations with Iran, seeking mutually beneficial evasion of sanctions.

On January 16, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had set a task for the new commander of the group of troops in Ukraine, Valery Gerasimov, to capture Donbas by March 2023.
