Putin gathers Security Council over "security in the military direction" with update from Shoigu

"Today we have on the agenda the issue of ensuring security in the literal sense of the word in the military direction. The speaker is Russian Defense Minister Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu," Putin said during the meeting while being in Novo-Ogaryovo.

It is known that the head of Russia held an operational meeting of the Security Council via video conference.

What exactly was discussed at the meeting is currently unknown.

Kremlin website notes that the meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, State Duma spokesman Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmytro Medvedev, Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Mykola Patrushev, Minister of Internal Affairs Volodymyr Kolokoltsev and  head of the FSB Oleksandr Bortnikov.

It is known that the last meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation was held on August 4.  Then the members of the meeting discussed the Russian-Turkish negotiations that took place in Sochi on August 5, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, which escalated in early August.
