NATO's Secretary General shares key points on Ukraine's offensive
During a speech at the European Parliament, NATO's leader, Jens Stoltenberg, responded to critics of Ukraine's defense and shared seven important points
The Center for Strategic Communications reported on this.
Starting point
-
"The starting point is acknowledging that Russia used to have the second-strongest army in the world, but now it's second-strongest in Ukraine."
-
"When the invasion happened, the full-scale invasion, happened in February, we were told by most experts that Kyiv would fall within days, and Ukraine would fall within weeks."
Countering the Russian forces
-
"The Ukrainians proved them wrong by pushing back the Russian invaders, liberating the north, around Kyiv, the east around Kharkiv, and then bigger territories in the south and around Kherson."
-
"Now they are gaining more ground, liberating more Ukrainian territory. And then the same experts that told us that Ukraine will fall within weeks are complaining about the speed of the defensive."
-
"Ukrainians are exceeding expectation again and again, and it's our responsibility to support them."
Ukraine's decision
-
"We can offer advice, but it's the Ukrainian commanders and soldiers on the ground who make tough choices."
-
"We cannot sit here in Brussels, in the NATO Headquarters or the EU Headquarters and tell them exactly how to fight. That's their task. They're risking their lives and we just support them. And we praise them for the courage."
-
To succeed in the Zaporizhzhia region and strengthen their defense against Russian occupiers, Ukraine's Armed Forces may need to bring in additional forces, according to Estonia.
