Klimkin on mobilization in Russia: "Putin has led himself into a trap"
Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Minister 2014-2019, Pavlo Klimkin, believes that Putin has made a fatal mistake by announcing mobilization in the Russian Federation
He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"It is critically important for Putin to stabilize the front. He believes that mobilization will help him. However, he cannot announce general mobilization, because it is catastrophically unpopular in Russia. Everyone can jump in front of the TV there, but Russians have little desire to go to war," Klimkin explained.
The diplomat believes that mobilization in the Russian Federation can shake the Russian population.
"The protests that we are seeing in Russia now are pathetic, but people took to the streets. Even against the background of the fact that on the eve of the announcement of mobilization in Russia, amendments to the Criminal Code were adopted. That is, all this is a classic dictatorship. Putin really hopes that all these measures will help. However, he may make a fatal mistake again. The Russians are always very slow, but at some point, when they don't like something, they may explode. Besides, Russia itself also has its own problems," he added.
