Evacuation of people, prospects for ecosystem restoration, military situation: Zelenskyy arrives in Kherson region
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in the Kherson region, which was affected by the Russians' detonation of the Kakhovka HPP dam
He announced this on June 8 in Telegram.
“Trip to the Kherson region to coordinate efforts to deal with the aftermath of the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP dam. We discussed many important issues, such as the current situation in the region after the disaster, evacuating people from areas at risk of flooding, resolving the emergency caused by the dam explosion, and providing support for those affected in the flooded areas. We also talked about restoring the region's ecosystem and the military situation in the affected zone,” he wrote.
He emphasized the importance of assessing the damages and setting aside funds to compensate the victims.
Also, according to the president, it is crucial to develop a program that compensates for losses or relocates businesses within the Kherson region.
Zelenskyy has also visited the crossing in Kherson, where the population is being evacuated from flooded areas.
