British Intelligence: Russia made tactical gains in 2 key directions
UK intelligence experts have reported on the probable success of Russian troops in 2 frontline areas on February 7: Vuhledar and Bakhmut, Donetsk region
The UK Ministry of Defence reported the information on Twitter.
According to the experts, since February 7, Russian forces of Wagner PMC have advanced on the northern outskirts of Bakhmut, 2 to 3 km further west, controlling the countryside near the main M-03 highway leading to the city.
"Russian forces increasingly dominate the northern approaches to Bakhmut," the report says.
To the south, Russian units have advanced to the western outskirts of Vuhledar. Earlier it was reported that Russian troops had launched offensive operations there again at the end of January 2023.
"However, Russian units have likely suffered particularly heavy casualties around Vuhledar as inexperienced units have been committed. Russian troops likely fled and abandoned at least 30 mostly intact armoured vehicles in a single incident after a failed assault," the intelligence said.
