Biden considers traveling to Europe on anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine
US President Joe Biden considers a visit to Europe in February to show support for Ukraine after a year of Russia's full-scale war
This was reported by NBC.
Administration officials said that Biden is considering a trip to Europe on the anniversary of the Russian-Ukrainian war on February 24, 2022.
The White House hopes to draw attention to the country's resilience against the brutal military campaign of a terrorist sponsor and reaffirm US solidarity with Ukrainians as "the conflict enters a new phase."
Several locations are being considered, including Poland.
Three US officials said that Biden administration officials also discussed announcing another major military aid package for Ukraine to mark the anniversary of Russia's invasion.
No final decisions have been made on the president's trip.
A spokesman for the US National Security Council said: "We don’t currently have any travel plans for the anniversary." At the same time, an administration spokesperson said: "Planning for the anniversary is underway, and of course we are exploring a variety of options that the US can do to support Ukraine, but nothing is set or decided upon yet."
