At least 12 cities are completely or partially left without water - Denisova
In the Donetsk region alone, 200 thousand people are deprived of access to water, and there are risks that in the coming weeks the Donetsk region will be left without water supply
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada Lyudmyla Denisova wrote about this in Telegram.
"The war partially or completely deprived residents of Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Akhtyrka, Izyum, Makarov, Pology, Vasylivka, Orikhov, Gulyaipole, Chernihiv, Trostyanets and many other settlements from access to drinking water. In the Donetsk region alone, 200,000 people do not have access to water", she wrote.
Denisova fears that with the increase in the scale of clashes, there is a threat for the entire Donetsk region to be completely left without water supply.
With the increase in the scale of the clashes, there is a threat that in the coming weeks the Donetsk region may be completely cut off from the water supply.
As Lyudmyla Denisova noted, by shelling strategic vital objects, the occupying country violates the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, the UN Human Rights Council, as well as the Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949 (Fourth Geneva Convention) - the invader is obliged through all available means to provide the civilian population with all the necessary resources, including water.
"I call on the international community to increase sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in order to stop military aggression against Ukraine and torture of the civilian population of our state", Denisova wrote.
