Reuters reported the information.

"China plays a significant role. We must find ways to work with China on this," Cassis said at a press conference after a meeting of national security advisers and political advisers to state leaders in Davos.

The outlet noted that this is the fourth such meeting organized by Ukraine, which, according to Cassis, should pave the way for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv to end the war.

"The Ukrainian people urgently need peace... We must do everything to end this war," Cassis emphasized.

According to Cassis, countries that are engaged in dialogue with Russia, such as Brazil, India and South Africa, participated in the discussions in Davos and can play an important role, as "all this can create this collective movement to bring in countries that are far from the conflict but can play a role in influencing China and Russia."

Zelenskyy was not present at Sunday's meeting, he was represented by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, who said that the summit was attended by participants from 18 countries in Asia, 12 countries in Africa, and 6 countries in South America.

"A positive indicator is the ongoing increase in the number of countries participating in the development of a joint action plan based on the Ukrainian Formula for Peace. Countries from the Global South are increasingly engaging in our efforts. This reflects a recognition that the conflict in Europe poses a challenge for the entire global community," Yermak wrote on Telegram.

Beijing’s response

On January 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that China supports all efforts to help restore peace in Ukraine.

"China is in touch with the parties to the conflict and will continue to work with the international community and play a constructive role in finding a political solution to the crisis," Ukrinform quoted the diplomat as saying.

According to her, China's position on the "crisis in Ukraine" is consistent and clear and consists in finding a solution through negotiations.

  • On January 14, the fourth meeting of national security advisors on the Ukrainian Peace Formula took place in the Swiss city of Davos. The meeting discusses the points of the Peace Formula and agrees on the format of the Global Peace Summit.
