Europe ready to ramp up defense efforts for Ukraine amid global pressure — Ursula von der Leyen
Morgenpost reports.
Intelligence warned that the base in Geilenkirchen was likely to be threatened by a “Russian sabotage act.”
According to the sources, German intelligence officers received information from a foreign intelligence service “about preparations for a possible Russian sabotage act against a NATO base using a drone.”
Last week, NATO headquarters in Brussels and the air base in Geilenkirchen did not comment on the intelligence findings regarding the possible threat.
A spokesman for the base called concerns about possible drone attacks absurd, and the Cologne police took over the investigation. The Federal Prosecutor's Office is not investigating the case.
