Russian ammunition depots destroyed in Mariupol suburbs on night of September 13
On the night of September 13, a Russian depot storing ammunition and missiles for air defense systems was hit near occupied Mariupol. Other Russian depots in the area also detonated
Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, reported the information.
At 1:43 a.m., he reported a strike in the Mariupol district.
"The attack has been ongoing for half an hour, and Russian air defense is ineffective. Hits are in the Portovske - Rybatske - Melekine triangle, with immediate detonation after impact," he noted.
According to Andriushchenko, the blaze was visible 10 km from the impact point in Manhush.
"The results should be excellent, especially considering the concentration of air defense systems in this triangle," he commented.
Andriushchenko also noted that the initial impact was between Manhush and Mariupol, leading to widespread detonations at all points.
He added that in the Left Bank area and the northeastern part of Mariupol towards Donetsk, there was visible fire and detonations.
Later, Andriushchenko noted that the detonation of the depots lasted until 5 a.m., continuing for 4 hours.
By morning, the Mariupol city council advisor confirmed the strike on an ammunition and missile depot for air defense systems in the village of Hlyboke (the Melekine - Portovske - Rybatske triangle).
Preliminarily, there may have been an impact on a nearby air defense unit, with details still being confirmed, he noted. He also mentioned that the evacuation of Portovske is being considered, with military forces blocking the area.
Andriushchenko observed that the road towards Mariupol is closed, and part of the Manhush-Mariupol highway is blocked. There is ongoing urgent evacuation and relocation after the strike.
- Russia claimed that on the night of September 13, air defense systems allegedly shot down 20 drones in Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Smolensk, Oryol, and Kaluga regions.
