Russian troops advance to Oskil River in some areas, says Kupyansk official
Andriy Besedin, head of the Kupyansk City Military Administration, discussed the situation near the Oskil River and whether Russian troops are making progress in the Kupyansk direction
He shared these updates on Espreso TV.
"In some parts of the front line, particularly in the Kupyansk direction, the enemy has managed to approach the Oskil River and establish positions there. However, if we’re talking about the progress they’ve aimed for, they’re still about 2.5 kilometers from the city’s outskirts and roughly 3 kilometers from the river itself. So far, they haven’t achieved significant success," Besedin explained.
He acknowledged that the situation remains challenging, as Russian forces continue to deploy significant resources in the area.
"They’re putting immense pressure on us, throwing in large numbers of troops, and suffering heavy losses. But, unfortunately, the terrorist state doesn’t value its people and continues to sacrifice them, throwing everything they have into achieving their objectives. That said, I want to emphasize — every day, I speak with our soldiers, men and women with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They’re fighting for every centimeter of our land, and no one will take it without paying a heavy price," Besedin added.
- On October 28, Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles Assault Battalion of Ukraine's 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, said that Russian forces are attempting to secure positions on the left bank of the Oskil River near Kruhlyakivka to expand their foothold in the area.
- Meanwhile, on Tuesday, November 19, the Russian army shelled Kupyansk with multiple rocket launchers, injuring two local residents.
