Russian drone attack targets critical infrastructure across Ukraine on Jan. 27
On the evening of January 26, the occupying Russian army deployed Shahed-type strike drones at Ukraine. Air defense forces engaged the drones in the Kyiv region, while infrastructure facilities in Ivano-Frankivsk and Sumy were targeted
Explosions in Ivano-Frankivsk region
Explosions were heard in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Suspilne reported at 2:05 a.m. Additional explosions were heard 15 minutes later, and a third time at 2:36 a.m. Around the same time, Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv mentioned air defense activity. At 3:00 a.m., explosions were heard for the fourth time. At 05:28 a.m. and 05:33 a.m., new explosions occurred in the city.
In the morning, the regional military administration reported that critical infrastructure facilities were targeted.
"As of now, there have been no reports of casualties. A fire has been recorded. Relevant services are working on-site," the statement reads.
Explosions in Dnipro city
At around 11:22 p.m., an explosion was heard in Dnipro, Suspilne reported.
At 12:56 a.m., Suspilne reported a second explosion in Dnipro.
Later, the outlet reported that the technical floor of an apartment building was damaged.
"The windows on the upper floors were shattered, and doors were damaged by the blast wave. According to law enforcement at the scene, there are no injuries or fatalities," the report states.
According to the regional military administration, three apartment buildings in Dnipro were damaged. One of them caught fire, which was extinguished by rescuers. No casualties or injuries were reported.
Attack on Sumy region
The regional military administration reported that, as a result of the attack in Sumy and the village of Pishchane, non-residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged.
"There are no casualties as a result of the attack. Relevant services are working at the explosion sites," the statement reads.
Air defense active in Kyiv region
At 12:25 a.m. and 2:55 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported air defense activity in the region.
