"Today, this is a different Trump," Polish politician says
Polish politician, historian, and journalist, as well as a former two-term deputy of the Polish Sejm, Mirosław Czech, expressed his opinion in an interview with Espreso, that the Kremlin is in a state of shock over statements made by the new U.S. president, as it believed Trump to be "Putin's asset"
He shared this opinion on Espreso TV.
"Putin's worldview was very simple. As a Chekist, he believes that his network of influence and agents has half of the West and half of America in its grip—that it's all in his hands. Putin thought—and I believe there is evidence to support this—that Trump, from his very first campaign, was his 'asset.' It's unclear whether Putin had compromising material on Trump or not, but one Western commentator caught an interesting point, saying, 'Trump's election victory freed him from all fears associated with his past and any potential leverage anyone might have over him.'
Today, Trump is different. He's now telling Russia, 'Listen, either you make a deal now, or sanctions, tariffs, and so on await you,'" the Polish politician remarked.
In his view, the situation has changed dramatically. For example, when Trump made a statement suggesting people think about the fate of Gaddafi or another dictator, everyone in the Kremlin was shocked to hear such words from Trump—the very man they toasted with champagne over his election victory.
"We need to focus on policy—on what will happen with aid to Ukraine, the presence of Americans on the European continent, and how the situation will develop on the battlefield. We must also pay attention to the statements of those leading institutions," Mirosław Czech concluded.
