This was reported by Suspilne, citing an employee of the USAID office in Kyiv.

According to the employee, staff currently lack detailed instructions on how the directive will be implemented or whether exceptions will be made.

USAID’s press service informed Suspilne that the inquiry had been forwarded to the U.S. State Department.

USAID in Ukraine supports school reconstruction, the provision of medical services, and the repair of critical energy infrastructure.

Note: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is a U.S. international development agency founded in 1961. It has regional missions in Central and Southern Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

According to the USAID Ukraine website, since the start of the full-scale war on February 24, 2022, the agency has provided Kyiv with $2.6 billion in humanitarian aid and directed $5 billion in development assistance. An additional $30 billion has been allocated as direct budgetary support.

Overall, the agency invests in and supports 29 different sectors in 158 countries worldwide, including economic growth and trade, humanitarian aid, education, energy, infrastructure, and technology, among others.

  • U.S. President Donald Trump, on his first day in office, decided to temporarily suspend all U.S. foreign aid programs for 90 days to conduct audits.
  • The Center for Countering Disinformation reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's decree to suspend foreign aid programs for 90 days does not apply to military aid to Ukraine.
  • On January 24, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended most existing foreign aid grants for 90 days. The order may cut off funding for military aid to Ukraine.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied the information that the U.S. has stopped military aid to Ukraine.
  • American diplomats urgently requested the exclusion of programs related to Ukraine from the 90-day foreign aid freeze directive issued by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
