Ukraine has world's lowest birth rate and highest death rate
Ukraine has the highest mortality rate in the world, while also having the lowest birth rate compared to other countries
The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) report states this.
According to CIA statistics, Ukraine leads the world in mortality rates with 18.6 per thousand people. Lithuania holds second place with 15.02, followed by Serbia at 14.9. Russia ranks ninth with 14 per thousand.
At the other end of the spectrum, countries like Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain have the lowest mortality rates.
Ukraine is ranked 228th globally for birth rates, with only six births per thousand, the lowest in the world. In contrast, Niger, an African nation, leads with 46.6 births per thousand.
The war has further reduced Ukraine's birth rate.
President Zelenskyy has pointed out that the primary issue affecting birth rates is children's safety, with financial conditions also playing a role.
