Poland joins calls to lift restrictions on Ukraine regarding strikes deep into Russia
On September 12, Poland joined calls to allow Ukraine to launch Western-supplied missiles deep into Russia following discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Warsaw
Reuters reported the information.
“We should continue to deliver advanced air defence systems (to Ukraine) ... and lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said at a joint press conference with Blinken.
Wrapping up his visit to Europe, Blinken stated that he had held extensive discussions with Ukrainian officials in Kyiv on Wednesday regarding their perspectives on the war's development and their needs. However, he declined to comment on whether Washington was ready to approve such strikes.
“What we learned from our Ukrainian partners will inform discussions that we'll be having with other allies and other partners in the days and weeks ahead, as we work through and think through the coming months,” he said.
According to him, it was appropriate to start such discussions in Poland, citing its unwavering support for Ukraine.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has said that allowing Western long-range weapons to strike Russian territory “will change the nature of the conflict” and mean direct involvement of NATO countries in the war in Ukraine.
