Ukraine set to produce 1.5 million drones by year’s end, says prime minister
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has announced that the country is set to produce 1.5 million drones by the end of this year
He made this statement during a government meeting on October 1, where he also revealed that the Cabinet of Ministers has launched a pilot project to certify drone operator schools.
Shmyhal noted that last year, Ukraine's weapons production tripled.
"In 2023, weapons production tripled; every second piece of ammunition in the combat zone is Ukrainian. We will produce 1.5 million drones by year-end. We are not only manufacturing drones but also training personnel to operate them,” the prime minister stated.
He further noted that the Ukrainian government is implementing a pilot project to establish clear certification requirements for drone operator schools, making it easier for UAV operators to obtain the necessary military qualifications.
"We continue to advance our missile program and achieve significant production volumes of artillery systems and armored vehicles. We are also establishing joint production facilities with partners and attracting funds to purchase Ukrainian weapons for Ukraine,” Shmyhal added.
