Ukrainian forces eliminate Russian command leaders in Zaporizhzhia region with HIMARS
Thanks to the work of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, a precision HIMARS strike targeted a gathering of Russian officers from the 4th Guards Military Base in the Zaporizhzhia region, taking out both personnel and vehicles
The press service of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported the information.
Three senior officers of the invading Russian forces were eliminated as a result of a successful operation conducted by the Department of Active Measures of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, and the Tavria operational troop grouping.
Intelligence operatives obtained information about a planned meeting involving officers with the 4th Guards Military Base of the Russian forces, who are participating in the criminal war against Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region.
After verifying and confirming the information, military intelligence developed an operation plan, involving the forces and means of the Tavria operational grouping, the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, and the SBU's tactical group Typhoon.
"Immediately after the start of the field meeting of the occupiers, a high-precision HIMARS strike was carried out on the gathering of Russian officers and their vehicles. When the evacuation team of the invaders arrived, they were attacked by strike drones of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces," the report says.
As a result of the operation, three Russian officers were eliminated:
- Captain Dmitry Nagorny, commander of the 1st Battalion of the 135th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces;
- Captain Grigory Krohmalov, deputy chief of staff for reconnaissance and chief of reconnaissance of the 135th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces;
- Captain Yuri Viktorovich Fomin, commander of the anti-aircraft battery of the 4th Guards Military Base of the Russian Armed Forces.
Additionally, five Russian vehicles were destroyed.
- A warehouse in Russia's Alabuga special economic zone, which stored parts for Shahed-136 drones used in attacks against Ukraine, caught fire.
