Water will definitely not be supplied via Crimean Canal - Ukrhydroenergo
Ukrhydroenergo, state-owned hydropower company, says that the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir doesn't meet the required water supply for the Crimean Canal
He said this on Espreso TV.
The Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota commented on what is happening with water supply to Crimea after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant was blown up and what the situation might be in the future.
“We clearly understand, looking at the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir, that there is no water intake to any city, Zaporizhzhia NPP, and even more so to the Crimean Canal. Therefore, until a bridge is built between the upper reservoir and the dam, until the water is raised to a certain level in the reservoir, water will not flow to Crimea. I am convinced that even if the bridge is built, the nearest prospect of water supply to the peninsula is next spring, after the flood. Water will definitely not be supplied through the Crimean Canal, because these are not the water levels required for the Crimean Canal,” explained Ihor Syrota.
