Ukrainian defenders shot down an enemy attack aircraft over Bakhmut
On the afternoon of February 7, Ukrainian border guards shot down a Russian attack aircraft over Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The fate of the pilot is currently unknown.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
"The enemy attack aircraft was covering the infantry from the air, which was advancing on the defense line. A man-portable air defense system of one of the border units opened fire and shot down a Russian combat aircraft, preliminarily a Su-25," the border guards said.
Ukraine produces weapons that can hit targets in Russia
Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, hinted that Ukraine has its own weapons to target Russia. According to him, no one prohibits Ukraine from hitting objects on Russian territory with its own weapons.
"As for Russian territory, no one forbids us to destroy targets with Ukrainian-made weapons. Do we have such weapons? Yes, we have," Ukraine’s top national security official said.
Ukrainian partisans are operating in Luhansk region
Ukrainian guerrillas in the Luhansk region set fire to a so-called signaling cabinet, an automated railway control system.
The equipment was destroyed on the Rovenky-Antratsyt railroad section near Yasenovsky village.
Germany authorizes two companies to supply 178 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine
The federal government has given the green light for the export of 178 Leopard 1s from Rheinmetall and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG). The Düsseldorf-based armaments company Rheinmetall wants to send the first 20 to 25 Leopard 1 main battle tanks to Ukraine this year.
It is unclear whether all 178 Leopard 1s will eventually be operational or whether many will have to be used as spare parts depots.
Denmark to hand over decommissioned Leopards to Ukraine
Denmark has decided to transfer Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine, which are no longer part of the country's armed forces. The equipment should arrive within a few months.
Thus, Denmark joins the "tank coalition" of countries that donate Leopards to Ukraine.
Ukrainian aviation carried out 9 strikes against occupying Russian forces
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 7 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the occupying Russian forces and 2 strikes on the positions of their anti-aircraft missile systems.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian defenders also destroyed an enemy Orlan UAV.
