Zelenskyy's approval rating drops: sociologist reveals reasons
Sociologist Andrii Yeremenko has explained that in Ukraine, presidents' approval ratings tend to drop as their term comes to an end
He shared this on Espreso TV, saying, "The balance of public trust in the president shifts toward distrust over time. This has always happened in Ukraine. As each president’s term ends, trust in them decreases. President Zelenskyy still has a positive approval rating, but it's slowly going down."
According to the sociologist, Zelenskyy's drop in approval is linked to the concentration of power in the president's hands. This includes his influence over key appointments and the mono-majority in Ukraine’s parliament, which is partially under his control.
He explained, "If we talk about trust in President Zelenskyy, he is responsible for almost everything happening in the country. This is no surprise, because during the war, he is the Commander-in-Chief, making key personnel decisions and holding full power. He has a mono-majority in the Verkhovna Rada, which, while not completely under his control, is still largely influenced by him. Sometimes this majority votes in ways that seem questionable, but overall, it's controlled. Additionally, the President's Office has taken on many functions of the government, including handling economic issues. People see this and hold the president accountable for everything. These are natural, predictable outcomes, and it's something that has happened with nearly every president of Ukraine."
- Polish Vice Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is trying to drag Poland into a war by asking it to shoot down Russian missiles. Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that Poland is out of touch with reality with such comments and refuses to acknowledge that the Russian leader is preparing for a war against NATO.
