Russian forces push across fronts, betting on victory before collapse - Aidar Battalion former commander
Yevhen Dykyi, former platoon commander with the Aidar Battalion, says Russia's reserves can sustain the war for a year, which is why it aims to defeat Ukraine before its army collapses
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"The Russians are now advancing wherever they can. They are trying to do this in the Kursk region, near Kupyansk, in the Donetsk region, in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, and are also trying to test the Zaporizhzhia direction. The only area where the occupiers are not trying to advance is by forcing the Dnipro River, because they realize that they do not have the strength to do so. They are trying everything else. In the Donetsk region, they are having quite serious success. In the Kupyansk direction, we are experiencing painful successes, they are already on the western bank of the Oskil River and the fighting is not in the Kupyansk direction, but, let's be honest, for the city of Kupyansk," commented the former platoon commander of the Aidar Battalion.
According to him, the invading Russian army has suffered enormous losses, the highest since the spring of 2022. But in the spring of 2022, the Russian losses were explained by the fact that they came for a parade, not to fight.
“The Russian losses are increasing every week. The Russian army is running out of reserves. The Russians have about a year's worth of reserves for a war of this intensity. And knowing this, they went for a very risky but, unfortunately, so far successful strategy, which can be described as “last and decisive battle”. The occupiers have made a conscious decision not to keep any reserves, either human or technical. And if nothing changes in Ukraine now, our resources will last for six months. And in fact, the entire enemy strategy is built to push us down faster than their army collapses. Therefore, this strategy is to advance despite losses in all directions at the same time. Right now, they have a chance to push us over the winter,” the military said.
In his opinion, Russia has a real chance to do so, because our mobilization has failed, and the government has done nothing to remedy the situation.
“That is, they have resources for a year, and we have potential resources for 2, 3, 4 years, but these are potential resources. In reality, those who are fighting have resources for six months at most. And this is exactly what the Russian strategy is based on: burning all its reserves, saving no one and nothing. They assume that we continue to be unable to change the situation with mobilization and the way our Ukrainian rear lives in general,” summarized Yevhen Dykyi.
