There is almost no safe place left in Mariupol - Denisova
Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova said that due to the constant shelling of Mariupol, there was almost no safe place left in the city.
She stated this on the air of the Espresso.TV channel.
"Yesterday, the Russian occupiers dropped a large bomb on the Drama Theater, knowing that there are children there. We were very worried about these people. After all, there were about 1,000 people in the theater's bomb shelter. We do not have exact data yet, but according to preliminary information, fortunately, there are no casualties. Now rescuers are saving people from the rubble of the theater and will move people to safety, ”Denisova said.
Denisova stressed that now there is almost no safe place left in Mariupol. According to her, the city is constantly under fire, and 350 thousand people have been under occupation for almost 15 days.
"Our military has evidence that the Mariupol Drama Theater was shelled by Russian aircraft. A bomb banned by the Geneva Conventions was dropped on the theater. Such weapons can be used to destroy buildings. The Russians are committing acts against humanity every day. We record it all. The attack on the Drama Theater in Mariupol is genocide against the Ukrainian people,” Denisova
It will be recalled that the invaders dropped a powerful bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater, which housed 1,000 people in the bomb shelter.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba reacted to the shelling of the Mariupol Theater.
The dismantling of the debris after a Russian airstrike on the drama theater in Mariupol began on March 17, people come out of the bomb shelter alive.
