Scholz can speak to neutral states from position of strength at G20 so that they take Ukraine's side in war - Ambassador Melnyk
Germany can afford a tough stance at the G20 summit and can convince neutral countries to side with the Western coalition on the war with Russia.
Andrii Melnyk, the former Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, said this on Espreso TV.
“The countries of the global South take at least a neutral position in the aggression of the Russian Federation. They understand that in Berlin, they feel that without attracting the full support of countries such as China, India, Brazil, and South Africa, it will not be easy to provide a global front against Putin in Ukraine,” he noted.
According to the diplomat, Germany can afford a tough position at the G20 summit.
“I strongly believe that the chancellor at the G20 summit will not only delicately raise this issue and hope for the good will of the rulers of these states, who have a greater influence not only on the economy, but also on the political agenda. I believe that Germany has all the trump cards in its hands to talk to these states from a position of strength - and force them to go over to the side of the Western coalition. Which helps us not only to survive, but also to liberate our territories. That is why I call on the Chancellor of Germany to take a tough position that Germany can afford,” Melnyk concluded.
