Scheduled and emergency blackouts to be applied throughout Ukraine on November 17
Due to the sharp cold, electricity consumption has increased, so on November 17, both hourly and emergency blackouts will be applied
This was reported by Ukrenergo, the electricity transmission system operator.
“Today, November 17, throughout Ukraine, hourly blackout schedules are being applied throughout the day, as well as emergency blackouts. Due to the sharp cold, electricity consumption has increased in those regions of Ukraine where power supply has already been restored after massive missile strikes on the energy infrastructure on November 15. This has also made the already difficult situation in the power system more complicated,” the message reads.
Due to the sharp cold, energy companies are forced to apply a greater amount of restrictions. This is a necessary measure to preserve the stability of the energy system after the sixth targeted rocket attack by the Russian forces on energy facilities. Repair crews are working around the clock to restore damaged infrastructure in order to restore light to Ukrainians.
