Russian forces will defend Chonhar Peninsula to the last – political scientist Molchanov
Volodymyr Molchanov, political scientist from Kherson, believes that occupying Russian forces will defend the Chonhar Peninsula to the last during the retreat
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
“Currently, the occupiers are primarily building roads in the temporarily occupied territories. They are repairing roads outside the Arabat Spit either. I don't know what they are thinking about, they probably think they will stay there for a long time,” Molchanov said.
The political scientist believes that the Russian troops will be strengthening their positions on the Chonhar Isthmus in preparation for defense.
“It seems that the Russian troops are preparing to defend the Chonhar Peninsula to the last. Everything indicates that they will defend even after their retreat from the left bank of the Dnipro River. Because this is almost the only way to the occupied Crimea. There are three bridges there, one of them is a railroad bridge. There is also a 100-meter isthmus that is very easy to mine. So it is not surprising that the occupiers want to turn the Chonhar Peninsula into a defensive foothold,” he added.
