Ukraine is ready to launch counteroffensive – President Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine is ready to launch a counteroffensive, but he acknowledges that it may require time and come at a significant cost
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the statement in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
"We strongly believe we will succeed. I don't know how long it will take. To be honest, it can go a variety of ways; completely different. But we are going to do it, and we are ready," Zelenskyy said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern over Russia's air superiority, highlighting the potential risks and casualties that Ukrainian soldiers may face in a counteroffensive due to the lack of adequate protection against enemy aircraft.
The president emphasized that he was unsure of the exact duration and cost of the counteroffensive.
Zelenskyy also stressed that Ukraine needs more Patriot systems to protect both civilians and the military on the front line.
"We would like to have certain things, but we cannot wait for months," the leader said.
Zelenskyy added that the Ukrainian military was stronger and more determined than Russia's, who aimed to maintain control over approximately 20% of the Ukrainian territory in the eastern and southern regions. The president expressed gratitude to partner countries for their military support and mentioned the need for additional weapons to confront the enemy, emphasizing the importance of faster and larger supplies.
