Russian forces consider options for leaving Zaporizhzhia NPP, mark equipment they plan to steal – Energoatom
Russian soldiers are calculating withdrawal scenarios and are probably planning to take some equipment from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP)
The state-owned Energoatom company reported this on March 6.
“At the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the occupying Russian forces are considering possible withdrawal scenarios and marking equipment that can be stolen,” the statement says.
Referring to the residents of occupied Enerhodar, the company notes that the Russian military's 'special attention' was drawn to the Center for Training of Maintenance and Management Personnel, which was created on the basis of the station's training center. As the company explains, it was used to train foreign nuclear engineers to operate and repair equipment at nuclear power plants.
“Not only Energoatom (UAH 500 million), but also the European Union (almost EUR 13 million) invested significant funds in the creation of the Center. Inspecting the Training Center, the Russian soldiers, who came to ZNPP as 'nuclear experts', made lists of equipment that 'should be dismantled' from the nuclear power plant in case of retreat,” Energoatom said.
