Trump says he would not allocate funds to Ukraine if Europe does not "equalize" aid
US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that he would not provide funds to support Ukraine if European countries did not "match" their aid to the US
He said this in an interview with Time magazine.
"I wouldn’t give (funds to Ukraine - ed.) unless Europe starts equalizing (support - ed.). If Europe is not going to pay, why should we pay?" Trump said.
According to the presidential candidate, the war has a greater impact on European countries than on the United States.
"They (Europeans - ed.) much more greatly affected (by the war - ed.). We have an ocean in between us. They don’t (Europe and Ukraine - ed.)," he added.
The Time article notes that since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia, the United States under Biden's leadership has provided more than $100 billion in aid to Ukraine. The same amount was allocated by the EU countries to support the state.
