This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.
This decision was discussed at a meeting of the local branch of the Russian Military History Society. The monument is planned to be erected on the seashore, adding the Russian coat of arms.
‘In this way, the Russian invaders are trying to glorify the murderers who systematically destroyed the city in 2022 by laying a three-month siege. As a result, at least 22,000 civilians were killed,’ the statement said.
The city council added that it is important for the occupying Russian forces to impose a distorted version of events on children. Therefore, the meeting also announced the creation of specialized classes for ‘in-depth study of Russia's past’.
- In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Russians are planning to change the decoration of the Church of St Peter the Great, which is included in the Book of Records of Ukraine.
