Biden and Xi to discuss Ukraine in upcoming Peru meeting
U.S. President Joe Biden will meet with China's Xi Jinping on November 16 at the sidelines of an international summit in Peru to discuss the Ukraine war
Radio Liberty and Ukrinform reported the information.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that the meeting will take place while the two leaders are in Lima for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
Biden plans to convey to Xi the "need to maintain stability, clarity, and predictability" during the transition of power.
A senior White House official stated that the U.S. is increasingly concerned about the impact of North Korean troops' involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine on long-term stability, both in Europe and in the Indo-Pacific region.
He stated that he expects Biden to express deep concern over China’s support for Russia’s war against Ukraine, as well as the deployment of over 10,000 North Korean troops in Russia, where they have begun participating in combat alongside Russian forces.
